The Duck and Rice restaurant in London

Last weekend I was in London and my friends Jackie and Kelly took me for a birthday treat to The Gallery at Sketch for an amazing afternoon tea (and a glass of proper champagne). On the way to Oxford Circus where I was supposed to meet them, I walked past the newly opened The Duck and Rice and I couldn't resist to take a peek inside. 

The Duck and Rice showcases, in a blue shell, some of the biggest trends of the moment: copper beer tanks, brown leather upholstered industrial seats, gold finished lights, rich wooden floors, elaborated glass walls. 

The result is very classy and not predictable. The flowery blue and white walls soften the predominant masculine presence of browns, wood and leather, and brushed bronze. 

It is definitely a look to copy.

I was tempted to stop for a nibble to be honest, apparently the food is really good there, either at the restaurant upstairs or at the gastropub downstairs...next time!

If you want to recreate the same look, just get a vintage light, a wooden table, a brown leather armchair and, for instance, one of Christian Lacroix's wallpapers from Designers Guild, pictured below (Azulejos e Belle Rives). 

Il weekend scorso ero a Londra e le mie amiche Jackie e Kelly mi hanno portato per il mio compleanno da The Gallery dentro Sketch per un meraviglioso tè pomeridiano (e un bicchiere di champagne). 

Sulla strada per Oxford Circus dove le dovevo incontrare, sono passata davanti al recentemente aperto The Duck and Rice e non ho potuto non entrare a dare un'occhiata. The Duck and Rice propone, in un involucro blu, alcuni dei maggiori trend del momento. Fusti della birra in rame, sedute rivestite di pelle marrone, pavimenti in legno di rilievo, luci in finitura oro, elaborate vetrate sono gli elementi chiave del locale. 

Il risultato è veramente di classe e per niente scontato. Il rivestimento a muro floreale blu e bianco ammorbidisce la predominante presenza maschile di marroni -legno e pelle- e bronzo spazzolato. E' senza dubbi un look da copiare. 

Ero quasi tentata a fermarmi per uno spuntino, sembra che sia il ristorante al piano di sopra che il gastro-pub al piano terra siano molto buoni...la prossima volta!

Se volete ricreare lo stesso look, abbinate una lampada vintage, un tavolo di legno, una poltrona in pelle marrone e, per esempio, una delle due carte da parati di Christian Lacroix per Designers Guild, nelle due foto qui sopra (Azulejos e Belle Rives).
