I can't surf, I am going to admit it straight away, before you get the wrong idea. 

Alex can or at least he could when I met him a few years ago in London after having spent a year surfing in New Zealand. 

It is really hot today, it is hard to concentrate so I cyclically end up day dreaming  about sandy beaches and  cool sea water when I remembered that Alex used to have a surfboard which  was on display in our first house together in South London. I have always liked the shape of surfboards and the sensation of wild freedom (and the image of fit bodies on top of them). Not to mention that having a surfboard in your living room is  cool (if you can use it).

Surfboards are perfect canvases for art. I checked online (ok, yes, I know I should have been working) and found these incredible painted surfboards. I would love to have the first one from the top and three ones at the bottom on my wall, I love the combination of the classical art subject and the surfing beach imaginary suggested by the board itself! I am not sure when it's painted like that it is of any use but who cares! I can't surf anyway!

Non so fare surf, lo ammetto subito, prima che pensiate diversamente. Alex è capace o lameno lo era;  quando l'ho incontrato per la prima volta a Londra, era appena tornato da un anno di surf in Nuova Zelanda.
E' veramente troppo caldo oggi, è difficile concentrarsi per cui finisco ciclicamente a sognare ad occhi aperti di spiagge dorate e acqua marina fresca, tanto che ad un certo punto mi è venuto in mente che Alex aveva una tavola da surf che è stata parte dell'arredamento nella nostra prima casa nel sud di Londra. Mi è sempre piaciuta la forma della tavola da surf e la sensazione di libertà selvaggia (e di corpi atletici) che evoca. Per non parlare poi del fatto che avere una tavola in sala è da figo (a patto che tu la sappia usare però).

Le tavole da surf sarebbero dei supporti perfetti per delle opere d'arte. Ho guardato su internet (sì, lo so, dovrei lavorare) e ho trovato queste incredibili tavole pitturate. Quanto mi piacerebbe averne una appesa su un muro di casa! Mi piace particolarmente la prima dall'alto o le ultime tre, adoro la combinazione di soggeto classico e immaginario da spiaggia suggerito dalla tavola stessa! Non sono sicura che tutta pitturata così si possa usare ma chi se ne importa, tanto non so fare surf!
