Margherita Missoni's house in Milan two years later

When I moved to London in January 2000, the internet connection was still slow and expensive. At that time, going to London or New York was an incredibly creative experience, these cities are a breeding ground for new ideas and trends, born on the streets, adapted by the mainstream market and then exported to the rest of world. It is not the same anymore,  globalization has made us more similar, you can see in real-time what people wear everywhere, all the news proposed in the fairs, innovative products, remote places. This brings to our life enrichment but also stress. We are so bombarded by images that it is difficult to not want more or feel that our life or our look or the look of our life is inadequate, not up-to-date. That is why it is very important to surround yourself with beautiful things and people, that never go out of style.  

This is the case of Margherita Missoni's house in Milan. Two years ago her flat, when I first posted some photographs of it, was new and original, now this vintage, mismatched look is easily found, with varying results. Still the apartment keeps its fascination intact because it is full of beautiful objects, the Missoni textiles being the first. 

Quando mi sono trasferita a Londra nel Gennaio 2000, la connessione internet era ancora molto lenta e costosa. Al tempo, andare a Londra o New York era un'esperienza incredibilmente creativa, queste città erano una fucina di nuove idee e mode, nate nelle strade, adattate dal mercato e poi esportate nel resto del mondo da visitatori o operatori del settore. Adesso non è più lo stesso, la globalizzazione ci ha reso simili, puoi vedere in tempo reale quello che la gente indossa, tutte le novità proposte nelle fiere, i prodotti più innovativi, i posti più remoti. Questo porta nella tua vita ricchezza ma anche stress. 

Siamo bombardati da immagini che risulta difficile non volere di più o sentire che la nostra vita o il nostro look o il look della nostra vita è inadeguato, non abbastanza al passo coi tempi. 

E' un pò il caso della casa di Margherita Missoni a Milano. Due anni, quando ne ho pubblicato alcune fotografie per la prima volta, era nuovo ed originale, adesso questo look vintage e spaiato è già visto e proposto un pò ovunque con risultati vari. Eppure la casa mantiene intatto il suo fascino perchè è pieno di begli oggetti, in cima alla lista i tessuti di Missoni .
