Paisley textiles, the new thing

So what is really new in the home textile world this year? Lets have a review; stripes are still around but , lets face it, they never really go out of fashion. Iktat was everywhere last year and now it is on its way out, thankfully.

The antique or quality and revisited ethnic is very trendy at the moment. I advise you to invest in some nice ethnic cushions and bedspreads because you will always find the right place and time to enjoy them; handcrafted ethnic textiles are always coming in and out of  fashion. If you have a look at some of the best brands in home textiles you will see geometric, flowers, tropical motives, all presented in last year's collections as well.
The only real novelty is paisley. The denomination paisley comes from the name of a town in Scotland where fabrics with the tear drop-shaped pattern were made in the Nineteenth century but the design is much older, of Persian origin. I have always liked it, I often wear a paisley pashima scarf that I bought in Rishikesch in India a few years ago. In fact in this case home fashion was influenced by clothing fashion.

If you look carefully, in the sense that they are not in advertisement (just yet), you can find a few proposals by mostly all the biggest textile brands. This is only a small selection, just to make you understand how the concept can be widely converted.

Quindi cosa c'è di veramente nuovo nel mondo dei tessuti d'interni quest'anno? Diamo uno sguardo d'insieme.  

Le righe resistono e tutto sommato non passano mai di moda. L'iktat era ovunque l'anno scorso ma è sulla via del tramonto recentemente, per fortuna. L'etnico antico o di qualità rivisitato è su tutti i giornali al momento. Vi consiglio di investire in bei cuscini o copriletti etnici, perchè troverete sempre il giusto spazio e momento per ritirarli fuori; i tessuti etnici tornano sempre di moda. Se dai un'occhiata ai marchi più famosi di tessuti per interni, troverai anche motivi geometrici, tropicali, fiori, tutti  presenti anche nelle collezioni dell'anno passato.
L'unica vera novità è il motivo cachemire. Il suo nome originale è 'paisley' da un villaggio in Scozia dove, nell'Ottocento, producevano per l'Europa stoffe con questa fantasia a forma di lacrima, di origini perse. A me è sempre piaciuta, indosso spesso una pashima con motivo cachemere o paisley che ho comprato a Rishikesch, in India, qualche anno fa. In questo caso la moda dei tessuti d'interni è stata influenzata dalla moda dell'abbigliamento.
Se guardi bene, nel senso che non li trovi quasi mai (ancora) nelle pubblicità, puoi trovare delle proposte 'paisley' nelle collezioni di maggiori marchi di tessuti per interni. 

Questa è sola una piccola selezione, giusto per mostrarvi come il concetto può essere ampiamente declinato.
