Ikea Sinnerling Collection

Often big brands ask  guest designers to create a collection. 
It is a really good way of introducing a fresh style to a brand and at the same time allows the brand to fly on the coattails of a famous person. 

Ikea asked Ilse Crawford to design 30 products that are going to be released under the name Sinnerlig collection in the USA in August and in Europe in autumn.

Ilse Crawford and her London based studio do residential, office, retail, hospitality spaces with a style that Remodelista rightly defined as 'warm minimalist'. 
Her interiors are elegant and comfortable, spaces that are easy to live in, where the human being and their needs are at the centre, even if at times they can look a bit bare.
In an interview for Marcus Fairs of Dezeen, she explained how her Danish and Scandinavian upbringing influenced her approach to interiors : "If you look at the way designers approach buildings, I would say that the majority do it from a conceptual perspective but the Scandinavians start from the point of view of where the door will be, how you experience the space."

The fact that Ikea asked her to design a collection shows once more that they work well at Ikea.  Her very sleek collection made of natural materials and linear shapes brings elegance  to Ikea.
As usual it is always advisable to check the products in shop (you can even do it at Expo 2015 in Milan) but I already like the idea of using cork as a table top, the light that the outdoor lights emanate and the general natural feeling of the collection. I am just disappointed that they didn't release the collection before the summer. 
Out of curiosity, does anyone knows what Sinnerlig means? 

Spesso grandi brand chiedono a delle persone famose di disegnare una collezione. 

E' un ottimo modo per proporre novità di stile nella produzione ed allo stesso tempo sfruttare la visibilità che il personaggio chiamato in causa porta in dote.  

In quest'ottica, Ikea ha chiesto a Ilse Crawford di disegnare trenta prodotti, la collezione Sinnerlig che sarà disponibile in America da Agosto ed in Europa da Ottobre. Ilse Crawford e il suo studio londinese progettano residenze, locali commerciali, uffici e spazi per l'ospitalità con uno stile che Remodelista ha giustamente definito "minimalismo caldo". 

I suoi interni sono eleganti e comodi, sono spazi in cui si vive bene, in cui l'uomo e le sue esigenze sono protagonisti, anche se a mio avviso un un pò senza carattere a volte.  

 In un intervista per Marcus Fairs di Dezeen, Ilse Crawford spiega come la cultura danese e scandinava abbiano influenzato il suo stile "Se osservi il modo in cui i designer si approcciano a degli edifici, direi che la maggiorparte lo fanno da una prospettiva concettuale ma gli Scandinavi partono dal punto di vista di dove la porta sarà, di come vivi lo spazio." 

Il fatto che Ikea abbia chiesto proprio a lei di disegnare una collezione è l'ennesima dimostrazione che ad Ikea ci sanno fare. Hanno infatti scelto una persona che potesse apportare una discreta eleganza alla produzione svedese, fatta di colori e materiali naturali. 

E' sempre consigliabile vedere i prodotti dal vivo (lo potete fare anche ad Expo 2015) ma mi piace già molto l'idea di utilizzare il sughero, l'uso di linee semplici e la luce che le lampade da esterne sembrano emanare. Peccato che non sia uscita in Europa prima dell'estate.

Una curiosità, che significa Sinnerlig? Qualcuno lo sa?
